LEOMI project stems from the conviction that the best patent translations are the result of a perfect combination of technical-linguistic skills and detailed knowledge of the specificities of patent texts.
Translators who embrace LEOMI project are progressively introduced and trained in order to establish a natural alignment with the company vision.
Organizational Structure
MANAGEMENT
Management is responsible for selecting translators who, according to their technical background, are introduced in their area of expertise among those characterizing the two macro-departments:
LIFE SCIENCE and ENGINEERING.
Furthermore, management defines the identification criteria through which each task is cataloged and assigned to the corresponding translator by area of expertise.
Finally, it assigns tasks to translators, reviews and approves the final texts, guaranteeing their delivery within the agreed deadline.
According to the technical fields of the tasks commissioned by our clients, LEOMI constantly increases, in a gradual and targeted manner, its collaborators, who are selected considering their academic and empirical skills.
Figures, tables, and other parts characterizing patent texts (e.g., “sequence listing” in the case of biotechnology patents), present in a format that cannot always be edited with conventional IT tools, have required the cooperation of a professional dedicated to their re-elaboration and preparation, in order to guarantee a professional and efficient translation also for these specific textual parts.
ACADEMY is an internal section, which also benefits from the help of external consultants. It is involved in a continuous process of training and updating of LEOMI professionals.
ACADEMY is also responsible for the development of translation memories and glossaries, which allows the storage of expressions and terms approved by sector and/or client.
In particular, the aim of ACADEMY is to guarantee that each translator, regardless of his/her technical background (technical professionals or professional translators with a degree in languages for translation), receives a targeted and structured common training in thorough knowledge of patent texts and related linguistic/terminological peculiarities. Each translator will also receive a specific technical alignment for his/her area or areas of expertise of interest.
